Easter

On Monday, Mom received her 3rd treatment of Avastin at Hopkins. She had been at Hopkins the previous Monday for the original date of that treatment, but her blood pressure was too high so the treatment had to be rescheduled.

We are all looking forward to a visit from Lisa's family (who live in Florida) at the end of April! What a blessing for us all to be together to celebrate Mom's birthday! Another important date in April is Mom and Dad's anniversary, April 13!!!

UPDATE

Last Monday (March 8), Mom and Dad were at Hopkins to hear the results of the CT scan from the previous week and for the chemo. Dr. Guintoli had Mom start a NEW treatment called Avastin right after her appt. with him. She will receive this every 21 days, and she will not need the Neulasta shot the day after treatment anymore. Also, she will not have to get bloodwork done every week but will only get it right before treatments.

Mom was directed to move around more so she started walking this past week on those warmer days.

Last weekend, we brought our newly purchased video camera to Mom and Dad's and captured some footage of Mom sharing some stories and answering questions about her childhood, motherhood, etc. Below is the first story she shared.

Please pray for:
~effectiveness of this new treatment
~relief from the cough
~motivation to walk and move around more

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was celebrated a day early in the Wingate house! Mom received beautiful yellow and red roses from Dad, and we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Magnolias followed by dessert at home...chocolate fondue!

Stuffed Shrimp Imperial (Mom and I both ordered this!)

SNOW!!!

Yesterday Mom and Dad made it safely to Hopkins for Mom's chemo treatment. After receiving almost 3 FEET of snow over Fri. evening into Sat. afternoon, it was hard to say what the roads would look like by Monday morning. Mom and Dad left home on Mon. at 3:00AM allowing themselves LOTS of extra time and arrived at Hopkins at 6:00AM (2 hrs. before their appt.).

Since Mom's treatments are every 28 days, she meets with Dr. Giuntoli each time she goes now. He shared that the CA-125 level had gone down from 460 to 417. Please continue to pray that these numbers would decrease. Dr. G ordered a CT scan to be done in 3 weeks.

PRAISES:
~safe trip Hopkins and back
~decrease in CA-125 level

PRAYER FOR:
~continued decrease in level

THANK YOU for continuing to pray on behalf of our family!

This photo is actually from the JANUARY snow (NOT the February blizzard)! Dad used his tractor to plow out his own driveway in addition to other driveways in the community.
